House (Bhava)
The houses are twelve areas of life in a chart, such as wealth, gains and losses, counted from the rising sign.
What they are
A chart is divided into twelve houses, each standing for an area of life. Some matter especially for money: the 2nd house (stored wealth), the 11th (gains and income), the 5th (speculation), and the 8th and 12th (sudden changes and losses).
How the tradition reads them
A planet transiting a house activates its themes. Benefics passing through the wealth houses are read as supportive; malefics as testing.
