Opposition

An opposition is when two planets stand on opposite sides of the zodiac, 180 degrees apart.

What it is

Planets in opposition face each other across the sky. The best-known example is the Full Moon, when the Moon stands opposite the Sun every month.

How the tradition reads it

An opposition is read as tension between two sides that must find a balance: a tug-of-war between the themes of each planet. In markets the tradition associates oppositions with swings between two moods, such as optimism and caution, rather than a single clean direction.

In AstroFinex

Oppositions count among the aspects the engine weighs. Vedic astrology gives every planet a full aspect on the sign opposite it, so an opposition always carries weight in the reading.
