Aspect (Drishti)
An aspect is the angle relationship between two planets; in Vedic astrology it is called drishti, the planet's 'glance'.
What it is
Planets are said to influence the parts of the chart they 'look at'. In Western astrology aspects are measured by angle: 0, 60, 90, 120 and 180 degrees. Vedic astrology, which AstroFinex follows, counts by whole signs: every planet aspects the seventh sign from itself, and Mars, Jupiter and Saturn have extra special aspects (Mars the 4th and 8th, Jupiter the 5th and 9th, Saturn the 3rd and 10th).
How the tradition reads it
An aspect from a benefic such as Jupiter protects and supports; an aspect from a malefic such as Saturn or Mars pressures and tests. The engine weighs who is aspecting whom and how strong each planet is.
In AstroFinex
Aspects are among the main inputs of the stance: the balance of benefic and malefic influence that decides whether the tradition reads a period higher, lower or level.
