Moon Phases

The Moon's phases are the stages of its monthly cycle, from New Moon through Full Moon and back.

The cycle

From the New Moon the lit part of the Moon grows (waxing) to the First Quarter, a half-lit Moon about a week later, and on to the Full Moon. It then shrinks (wanes) through the Last Quarter back to the next New Moon.

How the tradition reads it

The waxing half of the cycle is read as a building phase and the waning half as a releasing phase. The quarter Moons are read as small checkpoints where a decision or adjustment is due.
